Customers tell us the food is certainly among the best in the area. If you are coming to stay with us – we do encourage you to book dinner or supper in advance, as the hotel is very popular with local discerning diners!

Local produce, freshly prepared to order and served in elegant surroundings is the central theme of our menus. So you can expect beef, venison and lamb from local farms, gamefrom local estates and fresh seafood from our hard working Scottish fishing fleets. Quality vegetarian dishes are always a feature, as are a selection of fine wines from around the world. Packed lunches are also available on request.

We can make all kinds of extravagant claims for our food, but the opinions which matter are those of our guests. And the menus you’ll enjoy at Stair are really those chosen by our guests – all the dishes you’ll find there are what our customers tell us they enjoy the most. We’re not pretentious – our menus are written in good old plain ‘Stairshire’  - we’re not haute cuisine, we’re not a ‘gastro pub’. Complex twists and novelties too often distract from the final dish so we tend to avoid them. And, most important, Stair Inn is all about making people welcome, comfortable and feeling at ease.

Our aim is to provide the best hospitality we can with food that is damned good! - but not over the top.
